Let’s Find the Path Forward

It’s no simple task to keep our emotional systems balanced.

Your Emotions Are Trying to Help You

Mental health is maintained through a balancing act of our reactions to life's emotional challenges. Anxiety and depression are the two primary sides of this emotional seesaw — worry about the future and sadness about the past. Both are normal, necessary parts of how we regulate ourselves emotionally. The problem isn't that we feel them — it's when they become fixed patterns, or more intense than current circumstances warrant, often rooted in past experiences.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety exists on a spectrum from mild everyday worry to intense panic. It can include stress, unease, frightening thoughts, phobias, and physical symptoms like sleeping problems, shortness of breath, dizziness or muscle tension. Most people experience anxiety as a normal response to life's challenges. It becomes a problem when it is disproportionate to present circumstances or gets in the way of living fully.

Anxiety and Depression Often Travel Together

It is very common to experience both anxiety and depression at the same time — each feeding the other. Addressing one often means understanding both. There is a dedicated page on this site for depression as well.

How I Work

For those interested in exploring the deeper patterns beneath their anxiety, I bring extensive training and 25+ years of experience to that kind of work — whether those patterns are rooted in past experiences, current circumstances, or simply how you are wired — and what your anxiety may be communicating about your inner life.

I pay close attention to what you're communicating, not just in words, which over time allows us to understand what your anxiety is really about.

Over time, people often find that the therapeutic relationship itself becomes an important part of the work — a space where they feel genuinely known.

Individual and Group Therapy for Anxiety

Both individual and group therapy can be effective approaches to anxiety. Group therapy in particular can be a powerful complement to or alternative to individual work — offering a unique opportunity to explore patterns as they emerge in real relationships. Contact me to discuss which approach might be right for you.
